I'm driving to the rifle range to make sure I'm zeroed for my hunting trip this weekend when I pass a doe down on the side of the road with a guy stopped alongside of it with his pickup truck. I swung around to give him a hand lifting it into the truck because East Texas deer can be pretty heavy and this guy looked to be almost a senior citizen.

So he says he appreciates the help. I notice he's got a strap running from front legs to back legs with both sets of legs firmly tied together, so start to reach down when I notice the deer is breathing! I said "Hey, its breathing!" and he said he was just trying to move the deer to a safer place, hoping it would recover. I thought "Good luck with that!" but about that time the doe opened an eye and I noticed it had only been hit in the head and bled very little. So, who knows, it might make it. Anyway, as we lifted the doe, she started squirming, so she's got a chance.

I didn't tell the guy where I was headed and why.
