Anything available for the iPhone 5? I know there are devices for an ipad..not sure of the brand or reliability. I want to avoid having to download 6k pictures.. Id like to just chose from a large group at a time what I want to download. I don't want to scroll through tons of pics if I don't have to...

iPhone 5 has no adapter. Some on eBay and amazon say they will work but they don't. They only work on iPads. The iPhone does not have the software installed to make it work. I have researched this extensively. A jailbreak tweak may be in the works by a software developer. They posted 2 years ago that they may have found a way but nothing has been talked about since.
I have an adaptor for my iPad and it works but is very very slow. I fixed that with a jailbreak tweak and now the pics load much faster. I have an android tablet too and I use that instead of my iPad because it works much better.

I have tried the micro SD cards with adapters and viewed on my phone, but with the 3-4 inch screen i couldnt make out a lot of the potential animals. i went back to bringing my laptop out to the farm. Just make sure the laptop is fully charged before I leave the house. I even purchased the adapter for the iPad, but wasnt happy with that. i guess I'm spoiled with the 15 inch creen on the laptop

They're fairly cheap and will become extremely handy, especially for long trips out there for you. I have a little netbook that I rarely use and take it out to check the card, works great for me.

- also, be careful with those inverters. They will kill your truck battery quick just charging a laptop. Make sure you cgarge with truck running.

I have been researching/testing options for years. Tried iPhone adapters - doesn't work. Tried iPad - doesn't work well and storage in limited. Tried special viewers - too expensive, too slow, too small. Tried digital cameras - too small, format issues, doesn't support large cards, etc.
In the end, the only perfect solution is a Tablet. They can be had for under $200 basic. Have 100x plus permanent storage, plus read variety of formats. Will hold a charge all weekend and will recharge quickly through a cig lighter. Better viewing in sunlight (although still hard in bright sunlight).
I have a ASUS tablet and I bought the detachable keyboard which turns it into a micro laptop. With the keyboard, it will accept two SD cards, one regular and one micro and will accept all sizes and formats. Small enough to put into hunting backpack and detachable keyboard folds over to protect the screen. Moreover, since it is a tablet, it has Internet (with a hotspot) do I can upload photos directly to Photobucket, Facebook, or THF right from the field - check email too, even have used Skype to have emergency teleconferences with the office (so I can spend more time in the field by keeping in touch with work)
