i dunno if y'all can help or if I'm just too anal. but here goes. i bought a refurbished golf cart saturday at a local dealer. its a 2013 yamaha 48v drive golf cart. its got a new body, batteries, and all the extras. worked great when i bought it... but when i charged it and took it off the charger the next morning... wouldn't move.. about 20 min later it worked fine. same [censored] the next day. i called the dealer, and he picked it up, put a new selenoid and whatever other switches it might be. basically, it didnt mess up on them, so they replaced everything it could be. even willing to replace my charger. do i just roll the dice, and say lets hope its all good. or do i say, switch me outta this one and lets look at another cart? I'm totally out of confidence with this one..

For me, you answered the question when you said you have no confidence in the cart. Switch it out.

I've run an electric EZ-Go TXT for several years and most problems come from loose/corroded terminals, so check and make sure all battery terminals are clean and tight. The second common trouble area is the FNR switch.

I second the battery check.
We bought one a couple months back. Got it home and it wouldn't move. Little later it did but seemed low on power. Checked the terminals and the previous owner didn't tighten one of the cables down completely and it melted the battery terminal. Bought a new battery and it's good as new now.

If the problem is gone I would consider it fixed.

I've repaired many golf cart batteries that have had the terminal melted by drilling the post and installing 5/16-18 hanger bolt. It has lag screw threads on one end and 5/16-18 threads on the other. Drill the lead for the same size as the bolt minus the threads, screw it into the battery and use the 5/16-18 end to attach the battery cable too. Works perfect and saves you $$$.

If it is still doing the same thing, before you remove your charger, feel all your connections/solenoid, etc and see if anything feels hot.

Sounds like a solenoid issue to me.

I have a Yamaha golf cart and had the same issue, one of the battery terminals needed replacing.

Look up above the motor and see if there's a light flashing on the controller. Count the flashes and look up the trouble code. Mine will occasionally do something similar, but you can hear the solenoid clicking when you turn the key off and it's caused by the throttle potentiometer not resetting properly. When it happens, I have to mash on the throttle and slide my foot off the side, letting the pedal snap back up, or reach down and pull it up by hand, then it works like a champ. The Yamaha carts are beasts compared to E-Go's and CC's, at least the older one's are.
