Sorry if this has been asked before however I'm new to the TX Hunting Forum.
1. I am looking for dependable, low maintenance UTV for 2,200 acre West TX ranch near Eastland
2. Friends suggest either Kawasaki Mule or Polaris Ranger....thoughts?
3. Need front and rear seats (6 passenger)
4. If buy pre-owned any years or models to avoid?
5. Any recommendations for rugged tires? What about tubeless tires?
Thank you

Either would be fine. On a 2,000 acre ranch you may want something with a little more speed than the Mule so many will suggest the Ranger. I believe both come with tubeless tires standard and you can just put slime in them. Rangers typically cost a little more but smoother ride and faster.

Polaris Ranger is my choice. A lot more suspension travel for rougher terrain. More speed for the open trails were they key factors in my decision.

As far as tires I have 8 ply Baja cross on mine with slime. Mesquite thorns and Prickly pear of Crockett county are the enemy on rubber.

I have a neighbor with a 2013 Ranger Crew for sale. PM me if you want the info.

i have the 800 crew and love it. dad has the mule and that thing is a work horse. If I had to choose between the 2, i would definitely choose the ranger. Smoother ride and more speed.

I have owned or worked out of both. I own a Ranger now and use it on our Mule Deer lease in western Pecos County. I would not be able to walk after riding in a Mule for 17 days out in that country. Both have their pluses and minuses. We have 3 Rangers, 1 Mule, 1 Gator and 1 Kubota UTV's on the lease out of 8 hunters. The other 2 guys have ATV's but usually ride with someone in a Ranger.

Rangers are nice. Not as much of a work horse as the others mentioned but definitely ride nice and go fast! Thats what i own and I've never looked back since buying it!

I just made that decision and have found the Mule to work just fine. 25MPH is plenty of speed for me on a rough dirt/gravel road, plus my kids like driving it and I don't want them going faster. I chose to use the money saved to purchase some accessories that you'll want once you buy it. I needed to maximize my $. I'm sure I'd be pleased with the Ranger also. Both are good UTV's.
