Ready for rifle season to get here now. This is our groups first year on this lease. Are these average ozona deer?

What do yall think happened to this guy?

I'm not an expert on the area, but my Dad has a lease south of ozona near Juno. I'm hunted out there a little bit (long drive from Dallas area), but I see a photo of almost all of the "trophy" deer shot out there, and I think they have a pretty good place and only 9 paying spots on 7500+ acres. I would say that the first deer is about average for a good mature buck. The deer in the third photo looks like he is probably on the top end of the spectrum. Both deer would be shot on his lease, unless the first deer was deemed too young.

Be patient there are some big deer in Ozona and with the rain this year those deer will be big. If you can wait until the rut I would. I killed a 160" deer in Barnheart just down the road from Ozona on Thanksgiving week and after I shot the next day I saw a bigger deer close to 170's running a doe. There are good deer, but you have to play the waiting game.

We are on the Crockett/Shcleicher county line. We are looking at a great season as well. Our strategy for the next few years is take 8 points or less and let the toads walk and breed. If you are on Buckhorn draw, wait out the big buck because they are here.
Good Hunting!!
