Cool video. Amazing what those dogs can do. You would think the mountain lion could simply out run them.

This video was shot by Travis Legler in Kanab, UT. Travis owns one of my pups, the one that this lion tried to smash, head first. He is the little dog at the end of he video that he calls Captain and the dog turns to look back at him. Travis is a guide and has Tman's Guide Service. The video that we shot on lions will be aired on CARNIVORE this next season. Thanks and Adios, Gary

having never treed a lion nor known any lion tree'ers, what comes next? is the goal just to tree it? is this a training exercise for the dogs and they just get called off? does the lion become a rug?

If I send my neighbors a text and ask them to give me feedback on my lawn and plant rye into a giant dong pattern, I'm probably going to get some less than positive feedback. Same goes here.

That Border Collie looks EXACTLY like my little "Paluxy", God rest her soul. They are extremely smart dogs..Lettin' the hounds do the grunt work while she supervised.

In my opinion, this is the greatest hunt that a person can make. I have hunted about everything that there is to hunt on this continent over 50 plus years. I have outfitted for whitetails, muleys, elk, turkeys and predators across Texas and New Mexico. As I have previously stated, the good Lord knew what he was doing by getting me into lion hunting five years ago, for if I had started lion hunting 30 years ago, I would have lost the farm. You are chasing the ultimate North American predator, rarely seen by anyone in possibly the most beautiful scenery there is. As a huge bonus, you are doing so with a dog that is your best buddy that will give you all that he/she can and then some. Adios, Gary

The neat thing about using hounds is that once the lion is treed, you have a chance to study to see if it is one that you want to take. While tracks can tell you a lot about the size of a lion, there is nothing like a visual up close. If the lion is not one that you want, call the dogs off and go hunt another. My bride of 40 years took a really big female in January that weighed over 130 pounds and had great, dark color. Since we already have two full body mounts, we decided to make a rug from this one. One of the first episodes that we air on CARNIVORE this next season will be of Deb's lion hunt. It will be one of the best shows that we air this next season, footage of some of the most beautiful country in North America and of the most beautiful predator inhabiting this continent. I hope that you will tune in. Adios, Gary

I wish we could release the hounds on the gang bangers I chase on a daily bases, would make it much easier on this old man who is not as fast as he once was and I would enjoy studying the thugs sitting atop a tree limb, might think about a rug also.
