Found this thing in the house and I can't identify it. Little bigger than a Robber fly. About the size of a mud dauber. Has a rather large
hairy proboscis.

Found it. A type of Robber fly AKA Black Bee Killer. These guys kill wasps and hornets. Looks like they might be good to have around.

Yep bee killer. Other kinds of bee killers are the same color and markings of bees.

I think I have seen one around before but never very close so I couldn't really see detail. If they kill the wasps then I like having it around. Of course this one won't be killing any more.
