I'd be shredding the tops off that so the clover can get some sun. Dang it is tall and thick.

I need to get a photo with something in it for perspective, never seen oats and wheat like this, and it is on a 2-3% grade, not even bottom type land!

STX, Since I will plow it in this fall, I wanted to see how good it would do with all the rain, wasn't expecting this though honestly, some of the heads are over 5'! As I was going through shredding in low gear, I got worried if a fawn may be stashed in there, but don't know if a little fawn could even navigate this stuff.

Kind of hard not to streak when the wheels lay it down where the mower can reach it. Looks like it would be level with the truck hood on a reg size pickup. Makes for a late evening cut so grille can get blown out easier.

Oh yeah RM, it is as high as a 1500's hood. Would be easier to mow backwards!! I really just wanted to cut down to see hw the bottom was doing, the lanes I cut 3-4 weeks ago are shorter, but still 24" and have head out again. Have seen some of the peas and clover has climbed up 2-3' to reach sun, should have took a photo of that bang

If you let it dry on the stalk, you will get a ton of residuel seed. That is partly why this is so thick since I added 75 ibs per acre of additional seed and 300# per of 13-13-13-.

I let it stand all last summer and only spot treated the weeds I really don't like (crabgrass, careless weeds" Disked cris-cross pattern in Sept added seed and fert. The area in front of my blind, is all self seeded (not in the photo) but consist of about 60% rye type mixed with great native grasses/forbes.

For me, slim to none that enough seed would be left to do anything with. Too many unwanted mouths eating on it.

Yeah, main reason I don't count on it. Especially since it has been bone dry the last 3-4 years and growth has been minimal.

Even as thick and talk as that is, once it goes to seed, deer & hogs obliterate it. Makes shooting hogs a pain BC you have to have some elevation on them and time their heads. Reminds me of catfish feeding in a pond on floating dog food.

You shred it a couple times during Aug. and don't disc it, it will but won't be the same density of stand.

You disc it you will most likely get it to deep

He is looking at most likely 30-40 bushels an acre. Once it hits the ground they won't touch it.. Even if they start after it on the stalk they won't get that much. Wheat and rye have sharp seed pods, on top of that its not a perferred food group.

Another photo with my AR as reference, then a photo of the clover climbing upwards of 2' in a shorter area.
