Still developing the deer herd on my buds place.
A dual drop tine with 12 pt rack, and this one,
allowed to walk this year and pass on the genes.
We'll see what they look like next year. We whack
hogs nearly ever time we go out and sit and wait on them.
Pics like this help get neighbors on board with a management
program. Better to take full grown quality animals than one
baby buck every year. Even if means no bucks killed for several
seasons in a row.

Cheers

I'm afraid I wouldn't have had your patience, especially on a smaller tract of land. Kudos to you up

We don't take many hog pics but here's one from late Jan this year.

For some reason I can't figure out how to get a pic in the post
a second time here lol.

My bud bought 100 acres last summer. The neighbor who bought the adjacent 110 acres
doesn't hunt and gave persission to hunt that also. There is another 500+ acres
joining these two parcels and the owner has never hunted it and doesn't let any
kin hunt it. We bought X-Sights a couple weeks ago but haven't been able to get out
to sight them in and night hunt yet.

Cheers

Sounds like y'all are doing a good job of managing the place and obviously have got a few really nice bucks already. I can attest to the quality of the deer hunting in the blackland praire east of I35. My friend's dad used to have a small farm near Staples, east of San Marcos. The deer density wasn't that great, but a few of the bucks were absolute studs. Not sure why we drove 2 hours west to the deer lease, when we could have tried to get on a place 15 minutes from home with much bigger bucks. IMO, its definately an overlooked area with some serous potential.

Williamson County, can't be too far from Granger, maybe ten miles as the crow flies.

Billy I'm just up the road from you in Georgetown. Does anybody actually lease for deer hunting in that area? I once had a hog lease in the Coupland area but haven't heard any mention of deer leases

tex70, no sorry, not that I know of. When people buy land around here that have deer on it, that's why they buy it to hunt it. If I hear of something, I give you a holler.
