You can get them online for as cheap as $24.99, and I've bought them at Walmart for $33-$34.

I never paid more than the regular price (not what the scalpers and private shops were charging) for 22 LR.
I thought those days were over.

Lol! I bet he sold all pretty quickly. The whole supply and demand thing. I think some folks would even consider that capitalism. flag

Me neither. I've still got a couple of bricks of .22 from YEARS ago. I only use them on yard critters.

Dang, what a markup! Last I bought was the federal bulk 550 pack for around 13-17 bux! iirc, my son said they where cheaper than that ($70 in the add) at the last gun show in Ft Worth?

I bet many fellas made a killing in the ammo sales department.

The 22 situation was getting better for sure the later part of 2014. I could walk into Academy just about any day and there would be some on the shelf. Then Christmas happened and every kid got a new 22 therefore everyone raided the 22 ammo supply again.

If he can get that much for it then more power to him. Don't know why everyone gets so upset over it.

Still can.

I bought Winchester M-22 in 1,000 packs from Walmart for $49.99 each about 2 weeks ago. So 5 cents per round isn't the old days, but I refuse to pay the scalper rates of 8-12 cents per round. I don't have anything against the opportunists, I just won't pay it.

It doesn't matter to me what someone else paid, only what I pay. Maybe the $70 each was chump change for the guy to see his son smile.

A Democracy is when two wolves and a lamb vote on the dinner menu. That is why this country was specifically not designed as a Democracy. We are a Constitutional Republic.

Been awhile since I've bought any .22, but the last couple of trips into Academy, they've had plenty on the shelf. Albeit now it's all stacked up behind the gun counter.

The only thing that got my goat was the small local shops that were charging the same as the scalpers. I gained a lot of respect for Bass Pro, Academy and Cabelas through the scare (well it was a scare for some, not for me).

Yep...if people are willing to pay that much then they are worth that much...to them.

Large brick boxes are not available in my area at all. Academy here locally sells some off brand for 4.99 for the little 50 round box and your limited to 3 boxes!
