With all the moisture we have received over the last month or so, the food plot has sure responded I planted 2nd week of Sept. and it sat pretty dormant for over 3 weeks and I figured i would suffer some major seed loss, but am happy with it now. Deer had it down like a golf course until the last 2 weeks and we received over 1-1/2" of rain over that time.

That is beautiful. I had the same problem, no moisture, too many deer eating the oats. I ran 1200' of water hose uphill. Luckily the pump has enough pressure to push it that far. I spent about three hours in the middle of the day last week watering, even had deer come in while I was in the field. I must be the only one who planted this year. I've seen more deer than I ever have, up to 9 at one time. It rained on Wednesday. That'll really get the oats growing.

Mine look great now also after 5+" of rain in November and December now.

Very nice. Mine is also looking good and the deer have been hitting it every night. Still haven't seen one during the day, or had either of my game cameras catch one during daylight yet.

Yep. Moisture and lack of freezes has keep my oats in my shot plot going. Road construction at the entrance to my property prevented me from getting a tractor in during sept to plow/plant my usual 5 acre plot. I hand planted this 1/4 acre patch in 100 degree temps in sept after sod busting by hand. Miserable work but worth it.

Eddie, that's great, I know how hard you have struggled to get a plot the deer will come in, having them there at night is a great 1st step, now they know the kitchen's open.. Erath, I almost went and tried the same thing (watering), My main line runs right down the edge of my plot from the well to the house and for the past 2-3 dry summers, I kept swearing I was going to put in a freeze less hydrant. Bought the hydrant around Oct 1st and it starting raining! go figure.

Redsnake, I'd say it was well worth it! What I have seen this year with 2 separate acorn drops, is the plots have been the most consistent. My corn/protein feeder is on the edge of my plot and I don't think the deer would pay it any mind if it wasn't so close to my plot mix.
