All sorts of surprises at the ranch this past weekend.

Rattlesnakes, Auodad, Mullies, Javis, whitetail before my protein feeder took a crap, and the biggest surprise black bear.

Looks like he tried to shake some corn from my feeder, but the eliminator plate did it's job.

It always amazes me that there are black bears out in the desert of West Texas. I've seen enough pictures to know they are there, but it just goes against everything I believe.

Dating back to the mid 90's we've had bear in Val Verde County.

Very cool, unless it happens to your feeder. Hopefully one day you will at least be able to make a rug out of them for your damage they cause.

Terrell County. Right on the Val Verde/Terrell line

He'll be back for more. A creature of habit, especially for a easy meal. Time for some leg extensions.

That is cool, but a serious nuisance. You have two of the most destructive animals for feeders. Those big aoudads will get to fighting under your feeder and collapse the feeder legs/knock the feeders over. Been there, done that.

Yep, grumpy sheep and a 200 pound coon. What could possibly go wrong?

Silly question here. Is there a bear season in Texas? If not, can they be shot anytime?
