Pulled some trail cam cards and discovered this guy. I don't think he is older than 3.

Already a nice double drop, he is going to be a real stud if you give him another year or two up

This one is going to get some more evaluation, but from the few photos I have so far, he looks young and may have to give him a pass and hope he makes it another year. It is tough. A double drop is my dream buck. I had another deer the past few years that had a below average rack that had a drop show one year and not the next. He was mature, and I never laid eyes on him. I hear drops can come and go.

Also bouncing around in my head is the fact that we had a big main frame 10 with kickers that made him 14 points that I passed on a couple of times last year because he was young. He has disappeared. Don't know if he succumbed to the elements, disease, predator, fighting or lead poisoning. Right now though, I think this drop tine buck needs at least one more year.

This is Knox County and we feed Red Chain 17% from Gorman Milling.

cyclo i respect your confidence sir. Without a doubt another year or two would do him some real good but reading that gave me goosebumps. Best of luck up

Just because he has them this year doesn't mean he will next year. He may never have drops again.

Seems to me that all the deer in those two pictures look to be in pretty poor weight condition, I wouldn't be surprised if he is older than you think. up

Yep...I think this is exactly what you need to do and by the way can you guys bring guests to hunt with you this year? I'm sure the line would be long with guys willing to help you with this decision... roflmao

Very nice! With all do respects to management that buck would not get a second step if he walked out in front of me. Good luck and hope you get to see him this fall and actually get to make that decision. up

Thanks guys. These were the two best shots that showed both drop tines. I did not get many of him. I hope to have more of him in the coming weeks and can post one of his body profile.

Depends on what you want down the road. There isn't any data that I have seen that shows that he will grow them every year, some say on average it is every other year, some have seen them show up every year, some have had them disappear for 3-4 years and I have had guys that know more than me say that sometimes they never come back...add in 3 years of great rainfall and no telling what next year will bring.

I would have to wait to see how he topped out and know what is normal for that area, but I can tell you that even if I let him walk, someone would kill him on my place and I wouldn't hold it against them.

Personally, if he carried an average rack without the drops, I think I would drop him at 3. I have never seen a double drop outside of a HF, but there were two around our place many years ago, I just never saw them.
