I posted this on the deer hunting section as well.

Had a close family friend call me on Friday to join him on opening day. I was like wow opening weekend.. I changed my weekend plans and packed Friday and could not sleep the night before and left early Saturday morning. It was 4 hours away..but I am super excited. I am driving down the road singing and have visions of wet cold weather to hunt, I cannot get there fast enough and get there early afternoon. So I am sitting that evening in the blind and the weather is overcast and cool. Loving it ..the view and experience is enough to make me happy. I cannot believe I am there. 12 hours ago when asked to go I was in the city wondering how everyone else was going to to do the next morning. So there I set, about an hour the feeder goes off and this yearling doe comes out. I wait and thinking I don't care about horns I'm gonna take her....I text my friend and ask what he thinks..he says do what you want. By the time I get approval, she is gone. Panic sets in....lol So I texted him and he says she will be back..and sure enough she was. I line up on her and text him again 'listen for the boom" and I hit her perfectly. She did a 180 afterward and jumped 4 feet in air and it was over.

Cannot wait for the chili. She was a small doe but to me she was a 12 point. I am so blessed for this opportunity.

I have not been able to shoot a deer in over 4 years.

Hope you all get what you are looking for. I found mine.

Respectfully.

Here are some pics. No trophys like you guys post here, but sometimes it's about the "chili"

That's the best feeling ever! When I was off at my year round college, I missed two full years of hunting to classes and work. It felt amazing to get back out there and shoot one.

Sometimes its more about the experience and the meat than another set of horns on the wall. Congrats up

Like the other guys said: it ain't about the antlers, it's about the experience of hunting and getting out of the normal, every day grind for a little mental health therapy! The concept of a "trophy" is in the hunter's mind. Some folks hunt horns; some folks hunt meat; some folks hunt for a few hours of solitude; some hunt for a few hours of companionship with a friend or a family member. The "trophy" is what you get out of it. Congratulations on your trophy.

flehan Every deer is a trophy to me. I want sausage and my time in the woods. A buck is a bonus, but not as much as getting to spend time hunting. Excellent job. grill

I Feed Indian Corn. The deer love it and all the colors make them stay at the feeder longer.
