Came upon this guy one morning a couple weeks ago and it looks to be a cactus buck. I had a very good view form the binoculars from about 30 yards away. Nothing grew on the other side this year. Never saw him last year. Is this something I should continue to keep around, or take out? We have good numbers of bucks around this age, so it is one that would be fine to cull out. Y'all seen cactus bucks at a young age, that you would pass to see what becomes of them? Thoughts?

I kill a couple a year. Only thing they do is eat. If you have plenty of feed no issue. They can get huge. They don't breed, meat is awesome. Think fat steer

Good eats is all they're good for.

Have you seen this deer before? Could be interesting to watch if you don't mind feeding it

rickym - never seen him before. I'll see if he sticks around...hasn't been on camera or seen in person in almost 2 weeks.

Keep him around! He will grow a crazy looking rack in a couple years!

Looks like a late shedding very young buck that had some antler damage to me. If he is still in velvet in a couple of weeks then he has other issues.

I'm all for keeping him if he ends up having an interesting rack...but only one side is growing. Might wait throughout the season and watch him (we have MLD3, so we have a while).
