Looks like a pine and in West Texas if it is in Texas.

I agree it looks like a pinion pine, and my guess is SW Texas near Kickapoo Caverns or out further in the Big Bend.

Pinion pine for sure...Big Ag has a good guess as to where. We have those on our land near Leakey and at our place near Camp Wood.

Thanks for the replies. I agree it is probably a Pinion Pine. I just had not before seen that type pine having spent most of my life in the South. Picture was taken in the Bighorn Mountains between Lovell and Sheridan Wyoming.
