Mom was in the house looking out the back window and spotted this fella swimming around in the pond. 40-50 yds off the patio. On the Henderson/Anderson county line. Small pond too. Not even an acre.

Top water plug on some stiff braided line. Catch him/her and tape it's mouth shut and call a warden.

I took an ecology class when I was in school at A&M. There was a lab part, we did all kinds of junk. One was sampling a pond. We seined it. I got volunteered to do the sein with another guy he posted his end on the bank and I waded out and made a 1/2 circle back into the bank. I got about 90 degrees out and I see something pop up at the far end of the pond... you guessed it, an alligator about 6 foot long and then another one about 2 foot long. I looked at my lab professer with a WTF look. She said it would be fine just hurry up. She new it was there the whole time but said it never bothered anyone.

I've been told by several Fish and Game Officers that they are in every lake in Texas. The Sabine River, which is about 6 miles from place is thick with them, and it's just a matter of time until one works it's way up the creeks to the one that runs along the boarder of my place and into my pond. Beavers are my biggest problem, but one day I'll probably have a similar picture to post.

Every pond in Florida has a Gator in it but I haven't seen one since I moved to Texas. I like Gators.

Think its around 80% of texas waters are home to gators.. and growing.

Cool to have a local though cheers It will eat anything that gives it the chance wouldn't worry about cattle but pets for sure. They are pretty relaxed animals though.. curious for sure the little ones will follow you around like a puppy while wadding during teal season

You can't be serious. That's not even a hold my beer and watch this event. That looks like a decent size gator.

All is needed is hunting license and fill out a alligator tag after the kill. Send it along with $21 to the address on the tag and they will send you your tag. Limit one per person per year in non core counties. Core counties are along the coast and you need tags beforehand in core counties, issued by tp&w. I think there is one non core tag paper in the back the tp&w regulations handbook also, or you can download one. Many, many people dont know this non core alligator has been in place since around 2007 or 2008.

Pops sent me a better pic today. He came out to do a little sunning I guess. If he hangs around we're headed down Saturday morning. Their dogs are held captive in the house for now.
