Curious if others hunting in or near the Round Mountain area are seeing exotics? I'm at a 1,700 acre lease in Round Mountain, on the west side of the 281 about 12 miles south of Marble Falls. Great place, lots of mature whitetail deer (we're pretty strict on the management aspect), a few too many does, and the occasional hog (lots of hog sign but they don't come to feeders). Some of the guys that have been on the lease a long time say they used to see black buck pretty regularly in the past, but in my 4 years I've never seen any. This year, however, I spotted an axis doe on the other side of the fence (5,000 acre property that we share two boundaries with), and I found two axis sheds (look to be from last season) from a young buck. None of the other people at the lease have seen any Axis (or at least that they admitted to) there ever, and some have been there for a long time. I know there are some game ranches north of us (closer to Marble Falls), so I was curious if others hunting in the general area are seeing exotics on a regular basis? The property across the 281 from us has low fence blackbuck in there, I see them almost every time I'm out there in the middle of the open field. Thanks in advance!

my SIL brother used to hunt several miles south of 71 and west of 281, would take several axis almost every year and saw a few fallow. Are you in Burnet or Blanco county?

Lots of axis close to there around Johnson city, Blanco, and Stonewall. I would be surprised if you don't have some running around on your place, and likely more coming in each year if it is low fenced.

There's quite a few exotics in that area. Just a few more miles south of you, just north of Johnson City, is a wildlife park that has all kinds of exotics. I'm sure some do get out.
