I'm looking at purchasing a property that does not have access to rural water and wells are very spotty in the area. I am trying to avoid having to haul water from town. Have any of you utilized a water guzzler system to supply non-drinking water for your travel trailer or cabin? If so, can you tell me how happy you've been with the system and roughly what it cost for you to do it?

No but I have had to use water we brought from home for about a year and its not that bad, you don't use as much water as you would think.

when left house, had two, 120gal coolers full, several other containers, roughly 20-25 gal milk jugs... Had steep pitch roof, ta catch water... No rain, cheeking game cams, carried 4 milk jugs ta creek... Some days washed cloths while showering, used feet ta agitate . Had a pee patch , less flushing... just few tips from when spent time alone. had roof over my head... Just few tips... In todays world ya not getting very far without money or credit... Try it some time...

I have a 10,000 gallon system that is potable and filtered. Installed it 2008 and it's been great. I use it for my 2 hunting cabins and RV spots. I have a pretty big system with a galvanized tank that was pretty expensive (about half the cost of the system). It catches off 2 roofs and had to install everything including gutters. It has a pressure tank, Micron and Carbon filters and UV light all in a well house. My system was installed and it cost me $14,000. Now water cost me about $85 a year.

For a family weekend place you probably only need about a 3000 gallon system.

We got by for about a year taking water to the ranch in 55 gallon drums. We took 3 and ran it through our TT. 3 drums was enough to get 6 adults and 3 children through a normal weekend.

Rain gutters on your buildings and haul drinking water.

this, catch the rain water (stock tanks) carry your drinking water, get in a pinch boil your rain water,good to go.

We're putting guzzlers out at our ranch.

We have a cistern that fills from when it rains from the cabin gutters. If it doesn't rain we haul water to fill it. Water is piped to a sink and shower and hot water heater. We have a 12v pump in line to give some pressure. 12v car battery runs it for a long time and then we charge it. The water heater is propane. We have a large propane tank that runs it and the stove top and oven. We bring 5 gallon jugs of drinking water. Have had this for over 10 years.
