A few weeks back I posted the first entry to my deer hunting video journal. Some of you here seemed to enjoy it so I thought I'd share the second entry.

This piece is one that I've been working on for a few months but I wasn't able to find the inspiration to finish it until recently. I think I just needed some cooler weather and to experience yet another exciting rut here in North Georgia.

I know my style isn't for everyone, especially in the hunting community, but there do seem to be some folks out there who look at this human experience similarly to how I look at it.

So for those who enjoyed the first entry, here is number 2. Hope you enjoy.

Very nice work.

I felt the same feeling recently hunting out of state in northern Missouri. Sitting in the stand hearing vehicle traffic and machinery running throughout the day. It was a shock to my hunting experience enough to make me pack it up and head home the 3rd day of a 6 day hunt.

It made me very thankful though for the ranch I have been fortunate to hunt on for the last ten years. No city lights or highway there. Getting harder and harder finding peace and solitude with nature mixed in.

Nicely done. Your little one is a hoot!

For family, I drove through Fredericksburg, TX yesterday. (Not on Main Street, that would have taken an hour to get through). It is not the town of my childhood. On this holiday weekend, it is a once quaint town being crushed by a million souls, all looking for a parking place. That scene is no part of me.

My place is out of town, along what was the Pinta Trail, where Comanche once rode on raids. On a good weather day, you constantly hear motorcycles, sports cars and see bikers and sometimes runners. They're all desperately trying to fulfill some image of themselves in that setting. But they don't see the setting. They don't smile, or wave. They look neither left nor right. They only look at themselves and each other.

I know there's no stopping progress. And people like making babies, and they all gotta grow up and be somewhere. But I really struggle with what I'm going to do with the place in a few years. It's become an imitation of what "in the country" used to be.

This is the nub of it for sure.

Thanks so much for taking the time to watch the video. That goes for all of you who watched and gave your opinion of the piece. Sorry it has taken me so long to respond. I've been sick for the past week.
