I was wondering if any of you guys have ever setup a pop-up blind and kept it setup for the majority of a season? I know a guy that had a heavy duty one that did that and it seemed to do okay. If so, do you have any recommendations? I have a small place to hunt on and it will be a hike to get into a good area. I don't want to haul a bunch of stuff over there because it can't be accessed by vehicle. Anyways, I just want a pop-up blind that will be relatively easy to get there and setup and will last. Thanks

I've put up pop ups and left them the entire season. If you put them where it's going to be in the shade most of the time the blind will show no wear and tear. Exposing it to sunlight is what causes them to fade and become brittle.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

I use a popup blind that I bought from Gander Mountain and like it a lot.

Few quick things:
-Buy some stakes and tie it down otherwise you're going to have it flying across the property like a kite
-Forget hunting on windy days because it will flap around too much and spook everything
-Get one size bigger than you think you may need (2 person if you hunt alone, 3 person if you hunt with a buddy)

Trick to hunting the pop up on a mild windy day is to use a white plastic grocery bag (not grey or tan bag) and hang it in a bush off 45 degree either side or direct across from where you are looking out your set. Deer will focus on that bag and not you in pop up. It has worked for me.

I put a pop up blind out three weeks ago. It will stay out until the end of the season.

We use Lucky's texas special. They sit out all season and do great! There a bit exspensive but they will last a long time. Had them out for 5-6 years now besides taking them in every once and awhile.

my BIL uses several pop-up blinds, set them up 2-3 weeks before season, sprays with scotch guard and stakes them down good. He hunts & guides in the panhandle and it can be plenty windy up there. He hasn't had any issues leaving them the entire season

Yep, spraying mine down now and plan to put 3 out this weekend with good stakes all around, brush in and will leave out all season. Been using my Ameristep Backstrap blinds 4 years now.

Only time I have seen problems was in South Texas with pear rats chewing them up if left out all season.

I have had a new one out since February, its fine. Its in a shady area under pines. I added some camo nylon and burlap, dressed up the perimeter a bit with limbs. Deer and hogs walk within feet of it sometimes. If you cover the top with camo burlap you can get a long time out of a 100 dollar blind, sun is their enemy.

My first year at my lease, I set up my Killzone pop-up blind. Left it out all season and shot a deer with buckshot from 12ga.

This is while watchin a youngin. I took some string, tied to both poles around the window and added some camo mesh for a curtain. Works perfect. I wouldn't recommend it for multiple seasons, maybe 2 if leaving it up all season. I have box blinds now, but still have the popup. Use it if visiting a property.

When some guy up north started marketing "maverick blinds" I gladly did away with popups. Hard plastic 6' diameter circular blinds that one person can move. Cattle wind and sun are bad on all popups and the mavericks are oblivious to those three elements.

All for a couple of hundred extra. Which you're gonna spend after the first year leaving a popup out.

I've used pop ups and like them in the right situation. I've left them out all season with the understanding that I would need to replace it after 2-3 seasons.

Also, if you have cows, you should keep them away from it or they'll likely stomp it. I always used limbs and brush to build a circular wall around it 360 degrees. Not to hide it, but to keep cows away. I've had success with a wall that is 3-4 feet wide and a couple feet tall of stacked brush. In my experience, it acts like a cattle guard and they've left the blind alone. Just leave small path to walk through so you can access it.

I found a PINK camping tent set up in the national Forest that someone had set up, and just left there all season. My guess is they were leaving it out to let the deer get used to it, and the fact that it was PINK meant no one would steal it. Trust me, that tent was there ALL season with no signs of anyone stealing it.

I will say each time I checked it there were fresh cigarette butts outside of it so someone was hunting from it. NOT ME, but someone.

Did you buy yours direct from Maverick? Really like the features and price looking for new blinds.

Well the website and information provided with blind turtle is definitely superior than maverick. I had concerns over dimensions and "black holing" as blind turtle refers to it.
