Hi all, I’ve really enjoyed reading the post. Thank you! Two questions: Can someone point me to a good game processor? Someone who makes good pork sausage, and will properly age venison. Getting your own meat back is also a bonus I’m in the Rockwall area, and will be hunting North East. I also need to locate a place to sight in a rifle without needing a yearly range membership if possible. Thanks again for the post...GREAT forum

Armadillo Gun range in Nevada and Forney has one too but don't know the name of it. As far as processor Ive had issues with Rockwall Deer Processing, I use a place closer to where I hunt. Guy I used to work with had good things to say about Landers in Garland. Kubys is good too but a little more expensive.

Most likely is Dallas you are not going to get your own deer back if you have any sausage or ground meat included in the processing...Basic cut and wrap will be your own deer...As far aging, the deer are tough because deer are pretty lean..Most processors hang it a few days before they get to it to process..But if you are wanting 21 days or something like that I would be skeptical as it takes climate controlled coolers to do so.....I heard there is a processor in Rockwall that guarantees your deer back including the sausage made...lol..well the above post just dispelled the Rockwall place....They heavily promote on the radio commercials that they guarantee your deer...

I didn't like Rockwall deer processor. Try butchermans in royse city. He's a custom game processor not production. Best game processor I have ever used. Guaranteed you get your own meat back.

I shot at the Armadillo range three or four times and the people running it seemed to be pretty decent. From Rockwall, it's a reasonable option.

Garland public shooting range is pretty close. Just head south on 30 to George Bush and about 3 miles exit Miles Rd. Go left and it's about a quarter mile off the freeway.

Might want to find the range in Poetry, just northwest of Terrell that THF member Walter owns and just south of you. I never found the range somewhere over by Caddo Mills, but you might try and find that one off Hwy 66, if it still open. Can be a muddy mess in wet weather is what I was told.
As far aa a game processor in your area, there is one north of you at the intersection of Hwy 69 and Hwy 121 at ?Trenton, never used him and can't speak for his quality, but seemed very friendly on the phone the one time I was able to reach him....or if you are travelling home from West Texas and can go thru the Downtown Dallas canyon, I've used Kuby's for the last 40+ some years. They are about 10 minutes west of the intesection of Mockingbird and Stemmons (aka I-35E) and Airport Frwy (aka Hwy 114), go 4-5 blocks past the Church's Chicken & north on Ambassador Row at the stop light by the RR track that goes over Mockingbird, to the stop sign 1 block up & turn left to the end of the street and you'll see the loading dock on the left. This is the Kuby's processing plant, that supports their retail store (and national catalog operation) in Snider Plaza on Hillcrest, just north of SMU. Kuby's is a longtime Dallas institution.
I'm sure other THF'ers will chime in too, and use whatever processor they favor on a comparison basis with Kuby's as the generally recognized benchmark. Ron

The Caddo Mills range is between Royse City and Caddo Mills. Go out I-30 East past Royse City. Take the FM36 exit. Turn South (right) onto FM36. Ammo Depot is on the left. They used to have a range. They had similar problems as the Garland range. Try calling them.
