Incredible, still can't believe it. In the Polaris headed to our property from the easement side and there's a BIG cat on the gravel road. One jump and it was up onto the hill and slinking away into the trees. It was more red than they look in photos, huge long tail it used to balance on the hillside. Me and my fiancé couldn't believe how much power it had to get up on those rocks in one jump. I will be bringing more than just a little .22 when I go check my traps I'm really excited to try to call this thing in soon. Even if I never get a shot at it, it was awesome to see.

Is the location secret?
A Democracy is when two wolves and a lamb vote on the dinner menu. That is why this country was specifically not designed as a Democracy. We are a Constitutional Republic.

There have been mountains lions killed in northern Medina County along highway 173. One was seen west of 173 in the early 2000's about even with the roadside park at the pass. One was killed in the 90's.

I saw my first mountain lion just off the bank of the Medina River near Pipe Creek in 1988. I was stalking deer and he walked out in front of me at about 30 yards. He never saw me. He was walking away from me and I never got a shot before he disappeared. Yes they do seem huge, especially that close. Edit to add. There have been reports of one around Medina Lake, (including one really bad fuzzy picture) during this past deer season.

They are majestic critters to watch. Have seen 5, 1 in Mississippi, 1 in Texas and 3 in Montana. One of those in Montana I watched through the Binos and spotting scope for about 15 minutes from about 700 yards.
Good luck getting that cat

Seeing one in person is cool
I have seen a mountain lion while sitting in a ground blind in Mason County (1998). Didn't scare me just wish I could have seen him better in early morning through scope so I can harvest him.
There (is/are) mountain lions where I hunt in Eastland. Paw print as big as my hand. Very elusive and only 2 people have seen one in last 3 years.

I had one cross the interstate in front of me west of Pecos. It didn't take him long to get across. They are big beautiful animals. I also saw a huge paw print outside of Ladonia a few years ago.

Ramsey, coons mostly, and whatever happens to get into the snares. Mostly just for me to get fur handling experience. Gonna pull them soon as we warm up.
Thank you for the luck, kmon1! You didn't want to shoot the one in Montana?
I like hearing everyone's sightings of them. You know you're seeing a really impressive animal when you can recall each occasion and when it was. I'm still tickled about it!

GimmeABuck, that first lion sighting is something you'll never get over. Maybe you should pack that Marlin in your photo. I have posted my lion mount before but here it is again anyway.

This photo was being passed around at my work. It was taken a couple of years ago not far from Carrizo Springs.

Nope, haven't shot any. Could have killed one in Montana but season for them starts in December there and I was hunting elk the first week of November. One in Texas I saw from about 600 yards while sitting there with a 45-70 Marlin and didn't see it very long. Keep hoping will see one when with a chance to shoot it. There have been a few seen on my lease in Eastland county but sightings are not very often there. If I ever do get a mountain lion, will have to see if the old mountain men were right about it being fantastic eating.

Saw one 10 years ago in Grayson county. I had to do a double take because it took a moment for it to register it was actually lion. My initial thought was dang, is that what I think it is? It crossed the road 50 yards in front of me. Cleared a fence like it wasn't there. I have also heard one. It will definitely raise the hair on the back of your neck.

I found fresh tracks on Christmas Day 2008 east of Dorchester. Never found the kitty who made them though.

I still don't know if i believe it, but on our place we hunt in lavaca county the landowner said he had a blurry pic of a animal that looked like a lion and it had a very long tail, this was at the begning of the season. My dad took a couple soldiers hog hunting after season, while we was at camp and hunters where in our stands, we got a txt message from one of the soldiers asking if he saw a mountain lion could he shoot it. We told him hell yes and after a few minutes we received another msg from him saying he couldnt get a shot on it. Soldier does not know the landowner and has never met him, as he lives in another state. This is in Lavaca county. I did some research on the internet , texas parks and wildlife had one killed and confirmed in Wharton county at one time, either by a vehicle or hunter. I would never bet one was in wharton county, as i grew up and still reside there. Makes me wonder. Makes me want to hand a carcass up and pit a camera up. I know they travel for miles and miles, it would still be pure luck getting one on camera. The stand he supposedly saw the lion was my wifes stand, now she wants to go put a bullet in it for a mount lol!
