Wonder if it has anything to do with a "catch and release" policy rolleyes I know the ranchers I knew in Colorado did not care for bears released around them, mostly from the liberal no kill towns like Telluride..hmmm BOBO, thoughts?.. grin

My thoughts is that has at a min 50% to do with it. Although I don't think these where tagged. The other 50% is just more and more human interaction. Need to up the quota in CO and let houndsman back in.

Just bring back spring and bait hunts... The bear I killed, the GW said he was certain it was the one breaking into BLM trucks, ripped of the whole doors looking for food, just barely intolerant of people unlike most that run like hell. He wasn't sure if it had ever been tagged or collard, but there was no evidence of either. I do know for a fact that quite a few are taken out of those "uppity class" hoods when they become trouble, the moved if they haven't attacked anyone.

The ranch I hunted in Durango had a bunch of tagged bears, all NM problem bears. Smart, dump them on the border and let the CO's deal with them.

30%! that is quite a percentage, but I guess they have more coverage over wolf packs, at least here in the 48

My wife's uncle had one messing with his box in the back of his truck, put a spot light on it and it had a tag in each ear.
Only thing in the box was dog food.

Devils in the details. Calf crop.. so they do majority of thier damage in calving season.

Wolf studies are kind of meaningless south of Greater yellow stone eco system, them and lions don't have an age criteria though

My 2 cents:
Aggressive or bears lacking fear of humans are killed by hunters, take away/limit hunting of these bears and you end up with lots problem bears. In the 1970's 80's seeing a bear in WY was an event, now it is a nuisance because they are everywhere and less and less fearful.

This picture was taken just off the shoulder of Hwy 287 West of Dubois, WY friend had to stop the truck to avoid hitting him. He was there for a week and saw 4 Grizzly all from the hwy. Last year while hunting elk in this area we saw a boar that made this one look like a Teddy Bear he was impressive.

Yelp, Minnesota is on verge of loosing thier moose. Sounds like between bears and wolves they ain't got a chance.

I remember when I was in Canada last year, watching the news as they went crazy about bowmar killing one with a spear, then 5min later it breaking news about two different bear attacks.

confused2 this took place up in Canada, Aye ? who's bowmar ?

Alot has changed in Minnesota in the 30+ years been in texas... deer hunting all LF recently found out their is a farmer, who has HF deer, NO HUNTING ... confused2 he might be ahead of his time...
Never was a deer shortage, Archery were the longer hunts... Buck only had 3 days, if applied for doe tag, had 1 day ta hunt... Pard & i were inta slinger fast draw, & we had the BP pistals, & rifles... They allowed BP rifle during the shotgun deer, kinda like the squirrel&hog hunts on WMA...
In N part of state, several counties had 2 week BP hunts...
rofl My first post on texasHF was in Muzzleloader section... Was told rofl Let the experts answer ...
Now seasons for Muzzleloader has been extended, & see lot of In-line... Dont know all details, even with shoulder surgury still not able ta hunt...
Moose, wolves, timber wolves, & bear are found up closer ta Canadian boarder... Has been some sightings of moose in past further south...
Can't really confurm on the verge of loosing their moose statement... Could be like the Fake News of texas & hog problems ... confused2 Smith Co. if asked for a doe tag during Nov. Dec. hunts got told, Not enough deer , it finally went ta 4 deer, & on here, for hog hunts, been posting bout WMA hunts & the advantages...
up on the info for Minnesota ... scratch might have ta grab me friend Ol Kentucky get one of them shooting stick, help hold rifle up, & as Danial Boone said, go Cull me a Bar... i gotta be me, no one else wants the job... Not sure if a .45 with P&RB will do the trick, all about the jerk behind the trigger... Posted a pic of hog took at OSBWMA, had wrong messure on flask, was one for my .44 pistal, powder was 20+ years old, still, one shot all it took, pic is how found the hog... popcorn Big differance between a hog & a bear...
i got cheap posts...

cheers grew up watching westerns, & Fes Parker , he played both Danial & Davey... Was on way ta OSBWMA for a hog hunt, listening to radio, when heard He Passed... R.I.P. he was born around FW if remember... flag

Agreed, lower 48 has a much higher bear dispersal than wolfs by far

cheers Thanks for the input BOBO ... Just checked internet, few articals on subject... confused2 from what have read, bears & wolves not played that much factor... No more than he yotes, rofl or so called Zombi Hogs of texas killing off the deer population...
First lease, only got on it cause of the 24-7-365 hog hunts... The N part of lease sold to neighboring land owner, they made it ATV trails, few years back went ta a big tado their, atv trails... Several had ta jump inta water when atv tipped over trying ta climb steep bank... angel no one was seriously hurt...
heard bout lease openning up, think it was $50.00 more, old hunting manual said 2buck county, when new books came out, it was 1 buck, confused2 over hunted could be reason why opening... Had gotten used ta the execative hunting , box stand ta keep out of the bad weather... No one was seeing deer, few does, nidea back to basic hunting, last two days of season seen two legal bucks, both survived...
Was Blessed when WMA down road opened up ta Public... Did the archery deer&hog hunts their, & used my rifles for hog hunting...
3-16-12 when heard bout texasHF was a newbee ta the forum, not hunting... When it went 4 deer county, bang legal is legal, yet still picked up my bow & hung my stand at WMA... flag

Went to a TFS meeting recently where TPWD put on a presentation on Black Bear restoration in the East Texas, preferably in the Neches River area. Lots of signatures on petition for it. Few against it.

Will be doing my part soon. Setting baits in three weeks then hunting them in September, Wisconsin Minnesota border. Can't wait it's been 3 years since I last hunted/taken one. I for one love the meat

The GW in the small town of Pagosa Springs, Co. where I stay during the summer have killed 3 bears in the last week that have broken into houses. They said because it is so dry, they don't have much to eat in the mountains, so they are coming into town.

Cabin rental in Pagosa Springs, Co.
Sleeps 10, If interested please PM me.

NM is closest and has longest season. Idaho has OTC and you can use your elk or Mulie deer tag for a bear, wolf or lion. CO has a few OTC with caps units.

Im clueless on AZ, Utah, WY and Montana
