I have a alligator hunt booked and the guide I am going with does not process them and I was curious if anyone has a processor in chambers county or Houston area for a alligator that's reasonably priced. Thank you in advance!
Also anyone who has done it before about how much did you spend on processing

I always did my own. It is not that hard. Took me and my buddy about an hour to clean two 6 footers.

I called them but they told me something I didn't understand they said to process it it would be 200 and then he would sell me the meat for five dollars a pound
Why do I have to buy the meat? I paid for the hunt shot it and am paying to get it processed

If you are used to processing (skin, gut, debone, etc) your own deer and hogs, you can handle an alligator. There's a lot of youtube videos to give you some guidance on how to do it. Here is just one example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exv6J0mUk5A

You were probably told 200 for a certain size and $5 a lb after that

Ask the guide who can process it for you in this area!

I talked to the guide today and he said they use porters processing as well I called Porter agian today and he exsplined it better today it is a 200 dollar processing fee and that includes getting the hide ready for tanning scraping and salting but does not include the tanning itself he ships it off and yes I do have to buy the meat back at five dollars a pound he makes most of his money buy selling alligator meat due to the processing being a time extensive

I talked to a coworker and he said the guy who processed his did the same thing and sold the meat back to him but his charged him six or seven dollars a pound

Tell him to deal with the hide for you and just quarter up the alligator and freeze it. Take it back home and cut it up yourself. $5 a pound sounds ridiculous to me. I never heard of anything but a flat rate for processing unless you want sausage or something like that. I always pay the flat rate and then make my own sausage.
