BIL called yesterday and told me that my new packing crate blind blew over in the recent storm. This blind is/was 7'x7'6"x3'6" sitting on a 6x6x6 stand so I'm sure it's not in good shape. The stand had angled legs and was guy-wired down, but it sounds like the wind was so strong that it snapped the 1/8"cable guy wires. The feeders and my BIL's blind which is 10' in the air and on a much smaller footprint survived just fine so I'm not sure exactly what happened, I guess I'll find out tomorrow when I get out there. At least I got to shoot one deer out of it...

Yowch. Good luck; hope its recoverable.

That wind out west had to be whipping something fierce with the storms last week.

We had a feeder that had a secured 3'x3' lid blown off; my 14' tower broke guy wires and was blown over into a tree. I hunted another spot on our place and the 10' tower and blind had shifted off its footings by the wind and probably some settling with the rain/snow. I didn't notice until I started climbing up it. The ladder side legs sunk in the mud deeper and threw me off the ladder when I was half way up. If the guy wires hadn't caught, the tower and blind was coming down on me.

I never had paid attention or readjusted a blind after they were setup and secured each August, but I will now. Please be sure to check footings and guy wires for y'all's setups before you hunt.

A blind that size is more like a sail in the wind. It would take really good anchors that are deep in the ground to hold that size blind down. I think you were a bit undersized on your cable size also. Were you on higher ground or in a saddle? The few blinds I have had turn over were in those areas and guyed down well..or I thought well. Hope it is repairable. cheers

Well, I went out there but couldn't get closer than about a 1/2 mile to it because of the mud and I couldn't tell anything about it. May be able to get to it next week if it doesn't rain and the wind blows for a few days.

Sorry to hear that. Had a wood blind on 10' stand blow over a few years ago when one of the hurricanes came through, it was before we had it anchored well. We stood it back up and with a little work had it back together. I bet that shipping container is a little stouter than what ours was and less fall I bet you will be able to salvage it.

Good luck.

we had about 8 pop up blinds out that were all tied down - we now have about zero pop up blinds - wind took them away that weekend - was rocking my trailer
