Eastern Llano county here. Have seen an exotic on a neighbor's low fence property. Was wondering what exotics are running around Llano country in the Lake LBJ/Buchanan area?

Has putting alfalfa out on property helped lure them in?

Thanks!

There are some blackbuck running around off of 2900 south of Kingsland. There's a big exotic game ranch off of 71 SE of Llano, I'm not sure if there are any loose from there or not. Don't think this counts as exotic or not but an alligator was seen in LBJ last week by the Horseshoe Bay Marina, about 5 ft long.

Very few free range exotics in that area, not to say you would never see any, most likely axis and blackbuck

Killed an audad ram on our San Saba lease two years ago. We are low fence. It must have gotten loose from somewhere. Pretty cool surprise that morning.

On our old place in central Blanco County, we saw Sika, Axis, and a few Aoudad and Fallow. There was a healthy, self-sustaining herd of Sika on the ranch dating back to at least the early 80's and in the early 2000's we had the Axis move in but they seemed more nomadic (thick for a year, almost all completely gone for a while and then they'd come back around), it seemed if you had a mature Axis buck he'd create a harem of does with a few satellite bucks, but once someone shot the mature buck the herd would wander off.

I hunt south side of Buchanan and there have been a few sightings of axis in the area based on what I have heard from others on my lease. There is a high fence place on the north side of hwy 29 about a mile west of the dam, that when the lake started dropping, they walked around the end of the fence. I personally haven't ever seen on out there though, yet. As many high fence places that are popping up around central Texas, every time there is a big rain, some will likely escape due to downed fences & blown out water gaps. That happened during that flood in '07 that almost washed Marbles Falls off the map, I was hunting in northern Burnet county on Mesquite creek. During deer season, saw something come out to a feeder before light enough to shoot, I thought it was a young Charolais calf at the feeder, when it got light enough to see, I wasn't sure what it was. After some research, determined it was a fallow. But back to your point, I frequent my lease and all around the Kingsland/Sunrise Beach Village areas but haven't seen any free roaming exotics ... yet.

We're in the south part of the county and have a good population of Aoudad, and occasional axis and blackbuck. We had a few fallow for a while but we haven't seen them recently.
