Are there any Hunting TV shows with Texas based people you like? We are thinking about moving our sponsorships away from BBA tv and looking for someone more local that is actually good and does rifle stuff. I know that market is slim and maybe not even worth sponsoring. any thoughts?

Not that I'm aware of. Best option I've seen is for custom makers is to get them in the hands of premium tag holders in the Western states. Red Rock is doing a good job of it and CCA as of late.

Yeah we talked about that. We have a place in George west and could do the same format ourself on our place but I get tired of seeing someone shoot deer from a the same 3 box blinds at an average distance. Cant tell one episode from another. Really would like to find someone that would take our 22 creed and do long range predators. Thinking we are going to have to put something together again to get what we want. Always surprised there are not more people out of Texas doing shows. Its always mid west people

A saturated market that has lost it's credibility. Product pushing prostitutes for hunting products.

Would be great to see a show that is real, doesn't always get the kill, and only promotes products that work.

I think a show that shows products that suck and aren't worth the money would be a great way to start a positive trend in this marketplace.

I've pretty much stopped watching most of the shows out there for much the same reasons that Pitchfork Predator states. Most seem like info-mercials for whatever products there are.
I'd love to see someone have a more detailed 'tech corner' segment to discuss quality items like what you offer. Something that would appeal not only to the high-dollar buyers but to average joe's and jane's. More how-to and how-its-made type of things would be of interest.
With the net there are so many 'experts' out there and it seems to have bled into the TV shows.

Another possible place to get the word out about your products, and get away from the chaff, would be to work with groups like Buckmasters, Friends of NRA, Mule Deer Association etc. These groups would be putting your product(s) in front of many people here in Texas, as well as around the country, that are a prime customer base for your products.

Pay it forward - Kids are the future.

Rifles are similar to boats and young women...there's no end to how much money you can pour into them without making them any more useful.

I could be wrong. Lack of public land access squelches much outdoor activity. Other website forum members from the West tell me they can be set up to shoot well over 1000 yards on public land less than 30 minutes from their home. I get very jealous of that. I have built a new long range rifle and have to nearly make an appointment to be able to shoot past 300 yards at semi-local ranges.

I hunted a 5000 acre ranch in the Hill Country which was fraught with predators. But, it's private as is 95% of the state.

I like Melissa Bachman personally. But, her current show for Winchester is nothing more than created field shots for their products.

Watched some show last night that showed a guy shooting a Red Stag while bedded.

I could go on & on. Pigman is credible. I like the Predator shows. They tend to be more realistic.

Put me on the list, I'll hunt full time no problem! Ha

I do like the Tecomate guys and Trophy Hunters TV. There are a few but agree that it would be great to see a true Texas show that goes beyond your typical hunt.

I'm somewhat biased because I've hunted with them before but I like Pure Hunting. Chris is a good friend of mine and I got to hunt with Willi last year on my elk hunt in New Mexico. They are both really good guys and I like the show. It'd be interesting to sorta try the same concept of the show in Texas.

I like Hunt Wicked Close. I know they are around the DFW area and seem like good down to earth folks.

It's not a typical hunting show to be honest. Bill has dedicated his life to introducing hunting and fishing to kids that don't have a father or father figure to take them outdoors. You won't see dream hunts in Alaska chasing caribou or grizzly or anything like that, so it may not be what you are looking for.

But what you will see is a team of people that go above and beyond to introduce the outdoors through hunting and fishing to kids that in all likelyhood would never get the opportunity. And they provide college scholarships to these kids through their foundation.

It is pretty awesome what they do. They still go on some good hunts and great fishing trips, but their deer hunts are going to be shooting "management" deer (which would still be a trophy for me every day of the week and twice on Sundays) - your typical 6 pointers and 8 pointers, so you aren't going to see the 14 point protein fed monsters get taken.

They do promote their advertisers, but so far it's been done fairly low key and they haven't let the show get overtaken by the advertising aspect. I think Bill wants to keep the focus on the kids and the premise of the show and not so much what new products the advertisers have to offer this year, and frankly I'm a fan of that. I know that because they support his show, I'm liable to give Columbia, Bass Pro, etc. at least a first look when I'm buying something simply because of their support for the show and what they do to help out.

They're like golf for me. Turn on, go to sleep. I love 'em! I don't pay for any channels that air them so when the free preview comes on I record a couple. I have one on my DVR that I have probably started 20 times and haven't seen more than 5 minutes of it.

I like to watch DFW Outdoors, with Marcus Spears. You won't really learn anything about hunting, but it's definitely entertaining. Lol...
