I had a nice skull I was letting macerate in a bucket next to my house. Unfortunately, one of the neighbor's dogs decided to jump the fence and "help" with the cleaning process. Long story, short....Skull is screwed. Entire nose area including half the skull. I have enough for a sku8ll cap mount, but not much else.

What are everyone's opinions on the fake skulls they sell for Euro mounts? Is there other choices?

Try Mesquite Taxidermy in Pearsall. Dunno if the will sell you one, but they use real skulls for their whitetail Euros.

I had the same hung happen to a buck a couple years ago. Except it was my dog. mad

I ended up doing a fake skull, and I hate it. Wish I just did a skull cap. If you dont think you’ll like a fake skull now, I recommend not doing it.

There's your answer as to the fake skull ^^^^

My dog feasted on a skull I boiled this year as well. Same as OP, nose area is gone up to about half way through eye sockets. Skull cap it is... Wasn't my original plan, but I'm fine with it now. Lesson learned.

Fake skull is fine if you Hydro dip it. But a fake skull and leaving it white not so much.
The camo or other design will mask the fakeness a little better.

Cut the antlers off and make a nice set of rattling antlers

Skull cap mount is the way to go. I had a taxidermist screw up a euro ram mount and tried to 'cover' by mounting the horns on a different skull. totally screwed up the look of the 1 1/2 curls. Never used him again, and the shame of it was - had he called when her first cut the skull cap off, I would have gone for the shoulder mount instead.
