So yesterday I was scrambling with what to do for dinner. We had some spaghetti in the fridge that was left over from last week and I don't like eating spaghetti without some kind of meat. We were out of ground beef and ground venison, but I remembered that I had some venison hams steaks left over. I have had a hell of a time getting those ham steaks cooked and not feel like I'm chewing through my gums to eat them so I figured I would grind them into burger and use it. I pulled the unopened grinder attachment box from the pantry and put that grinder to work. I was very impressed with the mixer's ability to grind that venison up. I defrosted the steaks a bit in the microwave, just enough to make it easy to cut them into about 1 inch cubes then ran them through the grinder with the course wheel and it ground it fairly fine. Now I feel like a chump for not using that attachment last year, I know what I'll be doing soon... making more burger! Now I just need a vacuum sealer.

Just be careful, if you're doing a small amount of meat it works great. Last year just to see the performance I made 25lbs of pan sausage and it worked great for the first half. The second half took twice as long, I was scared the thing was going to overheat and quit. If you keep it to small batches it's great, I just don't like the amount of plastic that thing has.
