Any recommendations on what to inject pork shoulders to be injected with?

feral or commercial pork? how will you be cooking it?

I've tried a few Tony Chachere's injectable marinades on a variety of meats. My two favorites are Roasted Garlic & Herb and Creole Style Butter

I've done the one off the Kamado Joe channel.
Pineapple juice, apple juice, tobacco, and a little salt. No complaints, but didn't taste it much.

I have also made up several different varieties from scratch that worked very well also.

2 cups apple cider
1 TS sea salt
1 TBS ground black pepper
1 TS garlic powder
1 TS onion powder
1/2 TS smoked paprika
1/4 TS cayenne
1/4 TS ground celery seed
2 TB apple cider vinegar
2 TB honey
1/3 Cup orange juice
1/3 Cup lime juice

mix all ingredients well.

place pork shoulder in a casserole dish, inject at 45 degree angle in a uniform pattern removing needle while injecting. pour remaining marinade over meat and cover wtih plastic wrap, refrigerate 2+ hours, over night works best. When ready to cook, drain off excess liquid and use your favorite dry rub to the meat (black pepper, sea salt, garlic powder, onion powder is my go-to rub).

I have never injected one, but brined them. I brine feral pork, I don't brine domestic pork anymore, just dry rub and smoke.

Commercial, smoked with mesquite.

shouldn't need any injection IMO ... I typically don't even with feral pork any more, I was just testing some of the store bought marinade injections that my SIL recommended, didn't seem to make much difference other than deep frying turkey.

PMK is right, you shouldnt need to inject, but I have injected them with 50/50 apple juice and apple cider vinegar on occasion.

Something I would recommend that I think makes a difference is spritzing the thing once an hour with the same 50/50 mix mentioned above...my pork butts always turn out better with the spritz it seems

use a home made version if u must inject. all the store bought ones have too many preservatives tasting like crap

I just smoked a big pork loin. Injected with Apple juice, applied pork rub and wrapped in bacon.

Talk about some good eating and juicy too.

I dust liberally with mustard powder, coarse black pepper, and lowreys seasoning salt, wrap in foil, then slow roast at 200-225 degrees for roughly 6 - 8 hours. Great for carnitas, pork roast, and BBQ pork sandwiches.
