My wife makes it a lot when I BBQ. She sautees an onion and bunch of garlic in olive oil before adding the corn, then heavy cream. Throw in a couple bay leaves and a little paprika and let it simmer for an hour or so. Finish off with some butter.

We have a corn cutter that does a great job on fresh corn on the cob. Cut it into a cast iron skillet and simmer with a little bacon grease and butter. Add salt, pepper, sugar to taste. Cover and simmer slowly, stirring regularly to keep it from sticking.

Dang, haven't done that in a long time and Walmart has corn for 12 cents an ear...
