After driving by there way to many times, I finally stopped and had lunch there today. Monday's Blue Plate special was the Meat Loaf, so I obliged. It was pretty good although you only get one side, I got the Smashed Potato's, wish they would have put cream gravy on them. The rolls and cornbread were meh and the tea was good. Probably will not do lunch there again just not enough bang for your buck and not good enough to compensate. I hear their breakfast is real good, might give it a shot next time. Any of y'all indulged there?

Stub, with as much time as I have spent at UTSW over the past 2 years, that place has become a go-to for me. I like the atmosphere, the waitresses are always nice, coffee is always hot, and pies are great. Ive never had a bad meal from there, breakfast lunch or dinner. Looks like you got shorted a little on the portions though. The Chicken livers are good, hamburger steak with gravy and onions is prettty awesome, and the roast beef on Friday is good.

Man BP I have heard nothing but praise for this place and had to try it. You are right about the waitress being great and a cool atmosphere, in a different way reminds me of the old Mecca Cafe just north of NW Hwy before it moved. Sort of the same boat with the UTSW thats why I am by there all of the time for the last 2 1/2 months or so. After spending $17.00 with taxes and tip for that blue plate special, next time I will go up the road to Mama, Daughters diner on Harry Hines at Royal lane, always get real good food and big portions = great value to this porker Stay safe out there and continued prayers for your dad.

I don't understand how all that is $17.00 especially for an alleged blue plate special.

I don't understand how all that is $17.00 especially for an alleged blue plate special. It was $9.45 for the plate only, Ice tea is $2.75 = $12.20 + X 8.25% tax - $1.01 + 12.20 = $13.21 + $3.89 tip = $17.00. The only reason I tipped so much is the waitress was great and got my food out real quick which was what I needed Normally I would have tipped $2.89 which would have been $16.00. Met a real cool dude sitting at the bar next to me that lives in Lake Dallas, he had neat tattoos on his forearm by his hand of racing flags and a black duck head and orange bill. He races street cars up in Sanger and other places, had some neat stories about some of his rides.
