The wife and I were road warriors yesterday, destination just east of Snyder, TX to attend our nephews wedding at 5:30 Saturday evening. I have been dying to try a Mary's CFS forever and that was our lunch break destination. I was apprehensive about going there for I knew it would be packed considering the normal Saturday lunch jam up, then add the additional hunters, holiday weekend well you get my concern nuts

So we hit the road around 11:00 am Saturday, told the wife lets go to Mary's another time do not want to gamble on it being jammed up, the wife said will be fine we have plenty of time laugh

Arrived at Mary's 12:50 and the place was packed, hostess sat us down next to a very large group of around 30 motorcycle riders out of Wichita Falls.
Great group of folks up Well my concerns became reality all to quick, unfortunately our waitress was overwhelmed with taking care of them, it took another 25 minutes to get our order taken and that was by another waitress coming to her aid. Cut through the chase at 1:53 I asked our waitress how much longer she said we were 3 back, I asked minutes? she said at least 15, told we did not have 15, she then said it would be no longer than 10 confused2 hammer

Politely told her Adios and we left, ended up at a gourmet place called Love's, had a 6" tuna sub from the Subway shop inside up

Well the wedding was great, we left around 8:00 and got home at midnight. 5:30 this morning the dog wakes me up for he is ready to go on his walk nuts

A few pics.

Obviously before we walked into Mary's, could not take one on the way out or I would get banned for it grin

Lots of Wind turbines and Cotton.

There was a real nice open bar with a lot of good hard liquor, Titos, Jack Black etc.I was the designated driver so water and coffee for me.
All and all good road trip with the Mrs. and very nice wedding.

Everyone around here knows you don't go to Mary's on the weekend in a hurry.

I've heard people rave about Mary's for years, but in my opinion, you didn't miss anything. I have been there twice; once for Mexican, once for CFS. Both were greasy, cold, and nasty. I won't be going back any time this century.

You should have split and went to the Beehive in Albany then taken 180 to Anson, north on 83 to Aspermont and 380 to Post. You would have liked the food at the Beehive, better than Mary's. You would also have seen parts of Texas that most people never knew that it existed.

DC's suggestion is a very good one. For CFS you get better at Linda's in Cisco than Mary's IMO.

Truth^^^^^**

Mary’s is over rated, and for those that think the CFS is the best there needs to get out more. Thin, greasy, and garlicky is what comes to mind when I think of Mary’s CFS. I do however like the chicken livers, sorta. bolt

Y'all must not drive by it often. The parking lot is slap full of people every evening. While I will agree it's not the best CFS in this area of Texas it is FAR from dead.

I have been there twice. Never had the urge to go back a third time.

I stop at Mary's maybe once a month when driving from ranch into City. I like it, but agree, it can be slow, and while not the best CFS ever, it is good and the price is right. And even though they can some times get backed up in the kitchen, the staff is always friendly and working hard. From what I can see, not dying at all. You just have to time it right.

I just called the Beehive. They were very surprised to find out they were now closed.

The one in Albany? I've been by there twice in the last few months and it's cleared out. They do have a location in Abilene i think. Now i'm going to have to run back up there and check it out.

I made a few calls as a result of this topic. The Beehive in Albany is still open. Linda's in Cisco is closed.
