Yesterday I had a loaded up burger at the Alamo Springs Cafe. Truly an outstanding burger, and I will have to move it above the Beck's Prime burgers in Houston. Today I had a cheeseburger at Jennie's, just off Main Street. Very good burger, but doesn't rank with the two mentioned above.

Onion rings - number 1, on the votes of my mouth and stomach, remains at Billy B's Sale Barn Cafe in Groesbeck. Second is at the Rocket Cafe in Robinson. Both are hand cut, thin and crunchy, and not greasy. Alamo Springs' onion rings are good but not great.

Ate at the Hilltop Cafe last night. Terrific. Tonight is supper at the Rathskeller.

And...the wife had pie at the Pie Company. She loves coconut meringue pie, and from the sounds she was making as she ate it, it was outstanding pie.

Glad you're having gastronomic success. I was just a few miles away from you this afternoon.

We ate my MIL's meatloaf last night. I swear that woman uses meat that's about to turn. I had enough gas for the Space Shuttle, all night long. But hey, at least I can do something all night long.

Gonna try Alamo Springs next time we're down there. Hilltop is such a cool spot......food is really good, but love the atmosphere and location. Glad you got to check it out.

Agreed on ASC. Like to get there a bit early and get a spot in the back porch and watch the bats fly.
