Need some help.

We had to get ACL surgery today, and man its tough. She got the cone of shame, has to be kenneled to keep from messing anything up, and the wife is about to cause me to take a bullet to the head.

Snowball has two weeks with the cone, and 8 weeks recovery where we have to watch what she does.

How did you guys get through it?

My experience was with the TPLO procedure with 8-12 weeks in a large crate in the house and out side with lead to keep her from running or jumping. Each day did range of motion rehab with her on her side and me flexing the leg. It's long and it's hard on you and the dog. But it is what it is.. If all goes well the dog will be about as athletic as before. Bad side is the dog may have issues with arthritis and could blow out the other knee within a 6-12 period. Hang in there.

12 weeks for my lab, before he was moving good. Watch the food my lab played the GF and would get extra food. He put on some extra weight which was bad. The cone on shame lasted two days. Still can't figure out how he would take it off, man was he proud when you walk in the room and he was laying it.

Best advice listen to the doc, and do the range of motion exercise.

Just like us each day it will get better.

Barry

We are on week 11. Listen to the Dr and follow the instructions. If you have tile floors or wood floors be careful bringing the dog in and out of the house (slippery). We go in next week for a checkup and x-rays to see how everything turned out. The two weeks in the cone is the hardest part. good luck
