(posting this in Upland and Gun dogs just in case some don't look at both) I made a deal last year with a guy and got several barrels on a trade. I am wanting to get all of them built this summer (my existing houses are getting pretty bad) and was thinking about going with the K-9 Condo barrel kits, If I buy 5 I get one free (if ordered directly from them) it just so happens that I need 6. But wanted to see if any of the dog people on here have any experience with them before I drop $600 on dog houses. I think they will be worth it, and with Cedar or Pine shavings, should stay pretty warm in winter with door closed and I think a few of mine will even enjoy the top deck too. All of the houses I have now were in the $60 to $80 price range and have no door (some had the plastic flap that never lasts). I think these might be worth the money. http://www.k-9kondo.com/k-9-kondo-dog-house-free-shipping/
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

buy a sheet of 3/4 plywood ------- the walls are 2' X3' and the ends are 2 X 2--------- 1 sheet makes a perfect dog house for about $15,,, its better than a barrel--- the top is flat and the dogs like to lay on top of it and look around.

Been there done that. Not going there again. Wood does not hold up, it's not water proof, no door and a dog doesn't like a wood dog house better than a barrel. I have a barrel house that is about 5 years old now and still almost perfect condition but it is just open at the door. And that wasn't the question. But thanks anyway.

I have a K9 Kondo sitting right next to an Igloo. My two GSP's use the Igloo 99% of the time. It has the clear door on it. I thought the K9 would work as I had see them work great in kennels, but given a choice, the dogs use the Igloo. Just my .02 !

The K9 Kondo works great and no need for shavings if you put them together like they tell you. I had them in all my outdoor kennels before building an indoor facility. They actually keep the dogs cool in the summer as well.
