I have never used Exceed but I will say that I would use some caution feeding a 31% protein food to an 8 y/o dog year-around. High protein diets can contribute to kidney problems, especially in older dogs and as dogs age. The only time I ever bring my dogs up to that high of a protein content is during hunting season when they are running WFO most every week of the season and then take them back off of it in off-season.

You're going to find a lot of issues in asking about dog food. It's the most diverse area of understanding and you're going to find 99-percent of people feed Purina. I feed something called Hunter's Pride, made locally, sold by guys that haul it around on flatbed farm trailers and costs me $20 for a 50 pound bag. Hard to beat.

exceed is a good food but unless you dog is very active year round i would not use 30% protein. he is right most of us use purina pro plan sport. Victor in the teal/turquoise bag is also a good one.

I'm not a Purina fan. None of my dogs are on it.

Not a Purina fan either. I agree that 31% protein is too high for a mature dog. I am feeding the Black Gold Performance Blend 26-18 and love it and so do the dogs. Dogs don't get overly fat and hair coats are slick. Adios, Gary

I recently switched to the Exceed Lamb and Rice 26/16 to see if it would help clear skin allergies. It has done really well along with the antibiotics I am using on the dog. Dogs love the food and their coats now look healthy.
