have any of yall ever gone out to samuel farms in mesquite just east of dallas. i wonder if you can go out there and train dogs. across the highway is an old remote control air strip people use to go out and fly their planes and now its just a big field with some trees on it. you are allowed to go out there and train. not a bad place and a place you can stretch your dogs out at.

That's a great tip. So you're saying no one will stop you from training at the old RC strip? I'm in East Dallas and always looking for good places to train.

Not for sure what the owners, City Of Dallas, would say about you training there and for the record you cannot train or use Quail outside of season unless you are on A Private Bird Hunting Area licensed by the State of Texas. In or out of season if buying Quail from A licensed Game Bird Breeder be sure to get an invoice with establishment name, address, date, phone and number of quail purchased. Quail that are hunted In or Out on A Private Bird Hunting Area must be banned with owners number.

We are only 35 miles east of Dallas and will get our first quail on September 25th. I always try to sell quail to bird dog owners to train with at their own place. Usually I can accommodate at a little under my current market price.

Best time to buy Quail is the same day I get my Quail and best pricing in lots of 25 or more. Bring your own crates .

I will be getting Quail on Sept 25, Oct 9th and Nov 6th

Deposits required and you must pick up that afternoon or evening.

I have trained in empty lots, parks, abandoned subdivisions; anywhere I could do a set of marks/blinds. Police would watch, then leave. If you have a collar on your dog it is the same as a leash in most circumstances. When I ran pointers, I did the same, but used pigeons I caught under bridges. Police never bothered me.

There's people training all the time on the north side. There's a guy that has a small group of people that go out there, he has a German Shepard he uses to show off and use as his display.

Another good place is in Rowlett/Garland boarder at Springfield park. On the north side there's a RC plane field that's hardly ever used. Then some times I'll go to the Rowlett creek preserve. Lots of mountain bikers but go under the power lines and you'll be out of their way. Then after running you dog in the field take them near the creek for a little swim. I've been out there a bunch only seen one or two other people out there with their dogs.

i just suggest this time of year you really walk the field before using. my inlaws have 5 acres behind there house and it has huge cracks in the ground that will snap a dogs leg in a second.
