A raw diet is good if you know how and what a dog requires nutritionally. If you don't know what you're dogs nutritional requirements are a raw diet is potentially worse than the cheapest kibble on the market. A properly prepared raw diet will cost much more than the highest brand kibble and take some time to not only calculate and design all to prepare the daily/weekly rations. Much more to canine nutrition than just picking a few ingredients and throwing them into a bowl and calling it a meal! You can look at the National Research Council (NRC) for info on canine nutrient requirements if you're unaware of them. Just be prepared to invest a lot of time, purchasing a lot of various ingredients as well as vitamins and supplements to make you athlete a proper meal that'll satisfy their needs.
