 Dallas area gun training

It's time to get my new pup working around a gun. Anyone know a public place where I can fire a shotgun for training him. I have hunted all public lakes around dfw, but not sure if it is okay to fire a gun when it isn't hunting season.

Might want to start off a little quieter than a shotgun.

Yes it is time for him to be introduced to a shotgun. I have already used smaller calipers around him. I need a place where I can do long retrieves with a shotgun. I would prefer to be able to get him in the water while doing this.
