I know the season just started. Right now I am hunting National Forest, but would like to get on a private lease in Jasper or Newton county. I have hunted in Newton county all my life but lease started becoming super expensive for killing mostly hogs and not enough deer. I want to try to find a lease in a decent price range that can fit my budget. PM if anyone knows of or will in these counties have any openings on any leases. I'm a very active hunter and responsible hunter. Be safe and good hunting! Thank You.

My family hunted on a 4400 acre lease from the early 60's to 2002. My experience was that we would sometimes go the entire season without seeing more than tracks. I wish you luck. We kept hunting there more for the deer camp experience than for the venison. My grandfather and his buddies, my dad, uncle, and all of their buddies, and then me and all of the sons. It was 3 generations that had grown up together hunting. I now hunt Coryell County and have great hunting with my sons, but I sure do miss that old place and the camaraderie we had.

He controls some large acreage close to Bon Wier, Tx.

I wonder if he controls our old place. On the west side of 87 a little South of Bon Weir.

If you go to www.cglease.com and click on the available memberships there are several clubs in both counties that are listing openings. This info probably doesn't get updated very often so some of those might be old but it is a place to start.
