I have two feeder pens at each end of my property. 1 is square ( came with property ) the 2nd is circular ( I built )
Each pen has both corn and protein feeders actively running.
Rather than me having to fill the Protein im going to have someone do it for me so I'm not having to make the haul as often the only issue is my pens are completely enclosed.
When I built my circular pen I was going to put a gate however I realized how much rock was below the surface and at the time with it being 100° I settled for just closing it in with T post and another hog panel .

The gentleman who will be filling my protein feeders says he can just remove a panel and that sounds good however I'm trying to figure out how he can remove the panel and reinstall it over and over and over and it keep the hogs out .

Do any of you guys remove a panel to fill your feeders and if so do you have a picture that I may see of how you have it set up!

Thanks

Offset the Tpost on the panel you want to use for a gate so you have about a 10' gap to drive through. Then don't wire the panel to that post. The panel will swing open from the other side so you have a 16' gate with a backing post for support. Use those rubber coated twist ties things to close. Works great for us.

I have simply used carabineers on one end of the panel to hook to the adjacent panel. Make sure there is a T post on each end, but having a 10-12 foot section for a car to drive through is very doable with a single panel. If you don't have a single panel that long, you can make a simple gate out of two cut panels each about 5-8 feet long and that works fine too. For those I simply wire the pivot side down well to t-post and the use the carabineers to attach the two panels in the middle. Has worked very well for me in the past with no hogs or cows getting through.

This is what I do with a 16' panel with carabineers (color doesn't matter to the deer) 2-3 on one end. You need a drive up option. Upgraded to 1600#protein feeders and put "The Hammer" timer on those and have 1000# corn feeders both in same pen. Takes lots to fill but less fill trips and thus less activity/pressure.

I think I'm going to go with 3 carabineer clips ( 6 total ) on each side.

The guy says he needs a 10ft opening!
8 ft wide trailer with 1 ft clearance on each side.
Isn't that a large gap between Outter t post of that panel?

I'm just picturing a 16 foot hog panel and how flimsy it is.

It isn't flimsy if secured at both ends well, and three on each end should do the trick.

The other option is to do two 6-8 foot sections and secure their ends well to a tpost and then caribineer the other ends to each other. In this situation 2 would be enough but could still use three.

My regular gates are 8 foot minimum and have had some larger. Never had any stability issues using caribineers to connect the loose ends of the gate. It's all about how you fasten the other end.

I'd cut one of the 16' panel down to 10' wide to use as my gate panel in my circular pen. I have one pen that is only accessible atv and on that one I cut a panel down to 5' for the access gate.
