Whats the best driveway alarm to put near my feeder. Its about 1/3 mile from the barn but there are trees. I don't wanna spend $300 but I dont wanna waste time with the $50 Dookie units either.

Just to get a ring when the pigs hit the feeder. That way I can start stalking back that way. I can sit at one stand and wait but if they hit the feeder at the back of the property instead of the front I don't wanna miss em.

I know you said you weren't looking to spend to much but after having a cellular game cam this is what I would suggest. Sure the investment is more but coons, deer and everything else will trip it and at least with the camera you can see what is there all the time. The cell plans are reasonable and worth every penny IMO.

I use the Chamberlain driveway alarms. Multiple detectors, single base unit.

Harbor Freight, at $15 you can throw it away if it doesn't work. We use one at our place. I can tell when someone comes in the gate, but that is only a 200 feet. https://www.harborfreight.com/wireless-driveway-alert-system-93068.html

Same here. We have one sensor that's about 750 feet away through heavy brush, and it works just fine. We're running three sensors on one base unit, you can go up to 4.

My question concerning monitors is how are you going to know if it is a hog, deer, or another critter that activates it. It seems a cellular camera would be best.

Depends the coverts are around 370ish new but come with a good warranty and customer support.

Depends on how busy they are, but mostly we replace the 4 AA batteries about every 6 months or so. The receiver can be run by 4 AAs or plugged into the wall. It will give a warning beep when one of the sensors gets low.

No telling between a hog or deer, but the sensitivity is low enough that coons and rabbits generally won't set them off.

From the manual "The Wireless Alert Sensor is a Passive Infra-Red (PIR) Motion Sensor that detects movement of people and vehicles, while allowing small animals to pass through undetected."

False alarms are very minimal however really blowing/moving grass/weeds can be problematic.
