I am having some thoughts and would love to hear feedback from anyone! I am hunting in East Texas on over 1000 acres that holds many big bucks. In the past before getting onto this lease, I have always used spinning feeders when feeding corn. Obviously, the mature bucks tend to stay away from feeders which is the reason for such little success. Corn piles are popular on my lease and the big bucks tend to come to them. Since I work and am going to school a couple hours away, I don't always have the time to drive down every weekend and put corn piles but still want to feed. What are thoughts on feeding corn from a gravity feeder? Do you think bucks will still shy away from the fact that its still a feeder? Any advice or experience would help! Thanks!

I'm thinking the redneck t post feeders strapped to a tree or something similar is your best bet.

Chain a pulley 20' up in a tree hang your feeder barrel from it and hoist all the way up. May need your 4 wheeler or truck to raise it when full.

This ^^^^

And I'd try to quiet the feeder down as best as you can. I opened my spinner plate and added a rubber coating to quiet mine down

How high would the barrel be off of the ground?

A deer does not often look up and therefor the height does not need to be great. 12-15 foot should be more than enough to keep them comfortable

I have mine 30 ft up in the tree to avoid flood waters on the river bottom I'm in. Generally I only go up about 15-20 ft and I have pictures of the deer looking up at the feeder. I assume bc the wind is blowing them a little and making it sway.

I have never hunted east Texas, but I have always used feeders to attract bucks and never had problems of bucks not coming to them. During the rut, bucks are attracted to does and does to feeders. In other words, it sounds like something else might be keeping bucks out of your hunting area. Do you have game cameras going to see what shows at the feeder when you are away?

Again I have not hunted E. Texas so if its common knowledge that bucks avoid feeders there I stand corrected in advance.
