With the new popularity of stand and fill feeders, have you shot it by accident ?

I just repaired and deployed a protein feeder. Feed would not stay dry. It had about 10 bullet holes in it. I did not do it, it was given to me because of the leaking. Brown silicone caulk and it's back in service.

To answer your question, no, I don't miss.

No, but my BIL did shoot the legs on one of our old tripod-style corn feeders once. To my surprise, bullet did not pass through. Just made a big dent.

We have had our fair share of feeder legs with holes in them. My dad and I both have had our 600# stand and fill feeders going for the last 18 months or so and they are still intact...I don't worry about myself however I can't say I don't worry about my dad's feeder...or my son putting some ventilation in mine!

We once had a man shoot the motor while it was running and completely destroyed the FCU. It was actually quite impressive.

I'll admit that I shot a tripod leg one time with a crossbow bolt, I was about 30 yards away in an elevated tree stand. I had a a good point of aim, well clear of the feeder leg. When I fired, the bolt hit a small twig that I didn't see and the deflection was just enough that it hit the metal leg. The hole went all the way through and about 8 inches up the shaft. The buck was unharmed and ran merrily away, laughing at me I'm sure. I found the cut branch tip a few yards from my stand. Since then I've been more careful about clearing my field of fire.

My grandson shot one of the legs on mine with a 25-06. Had to do a little splicing with some angle iron.

Only one leg...but it is still functional. Moved my blind to change the angle of shooting, hope that helps.
