My sternum strap came off on one end on my backpack when I tried to cinch it down a little too much hiking up a mountain on vacation. I assume it should somehow clip back on the bead but I can't figure out how. Every way I've tried would require at least three hands the way I'm doing it.
Has anyone had to re-install one of these clips that can pass along any secrets to me?

May try the maker and see if they can help. Other wise I would guess trying to put it on at a lower or higher area so as not to damage the spot you usually have it. I'm with you that it looks like it should snap on. You may also try some of the hiking forums for info. Good luck.

If plastic, probably won't be able to make it stay secure. Possibly take strap off and stitch to where it needs to go?

Just nature of the beast with those types, You can re-attach just have to pry it open and work it in. If you have any kind of Molle’ing on your shoulder straps, you can buy a mystery ranch accessory one.

I had emailed Alps Outdoorz and I heard back from them this morning with some good info. I'll check out the Mystery Ranch straps, thanks for the suggestion.

Do you totally change the way you wear your pack up the mountain vs down? I do. But if not sewing in place seems like a good idea.

It has a quick connect buckle to attach to webbing/strap material. Worst case paracord a loop all the way around the shoulder strap and attach to that.

Mine doesn't have web straps so I ended up ordering the ones in the link below. I found a bunch but the color of these matches my existing straps. I actually used paracord when it came loose to finish the trip but it didn't seem to be a great permanent option (glad I carry it in my pack). I don't use this pack very often so these should do the trick.
