My son wants some really good hunting clothes for his birthday. He has said something about Kryptec and I was curious what yall thought about them or better ideas. He wants some good cold weather stuff. Also what do you think about the HECS clothes? Worth the money or not?

What fits me is the most important. I am tall and long legged so it's hard to find tall pants, etc. I'm a fan of Cabela's for finding good stuff

Is he grown? Otherwise, you're shelling out a lot of money for 1 season, if you can find them small enough.

(They also only go so large, as I've sadly discovered, but that's a problem he won't have for a long time, if ever.)

I bought the HECS last year and tried them a couple of times. On the first try I sat behind a couple of trees about 40 ft from a feeder. Three yearlings came in and ignored or didn't see me. I got a spike with a crossbow.

The next time I went to the back of my place and sat out and away from the blind. It was only about 40 ft. Nothing showed up so I don't know. However, while walking back I felt like peeling down to my underwear. It doesn't breathe and got pretty warm.

It's expensive but so is everything else associated with hunting. I'm going to try it again as soon as I fill feeders. So far, I don't regret purchasing it.

Sitka and look on Camofire.com for deals. They have Kryptek also on occasion.

HECS idea came from all the ex employees from the scent stopping clothing company’s that had a non compete so they had to come up with some other hair brained idea to separate sportsman from their money knowing while they cannot prove it works animals do not talk so who’s going to testify against them confused2

I have a few pieces of clothing from Kuiu. I never understood the hype of it until I got some. I'm not a fan of their merino wool, mainly due to if you sweat in it, you smell like a wet sheep. Not sure if that's just a characteristic of wool or not, but I cant stand it. The other parts I have, I absolutely love. Flexible, breathable, but fairly water resistant and comfortable. Hell, if their Attack pants didn't cost so much, I'd have 4 or 5 pairs of the non camo stuff for every day wear. Super comfortable!

So kryptec is a type of camo. They also make there own clothes and license the pattern to other companies.

If you want good hunting clothes you have to define what you need and what you value. Be very specific.

For example I use prana Zion’s as my bow hunting pants. Light weight, breath, and stretch

But for elk hunting I take more substantial clothing. First elk trip we got snow and rain half the time. Second one it was sunny and 60-70 during the day

I am a huge fan of kuiu. Been very happy with The pieces I have gotten. Stika is another big brand.

I wear their wool on the elk hunts, and I sweat if I think about walking up a mountain. Is this why everyone avoids me up there?

roflmao maybe so. It seems to be hit or miss on the merino with the smell. I've been trying to find ways to wash it to get the smell out, but everytime it comes out of the washer it smells bad. Maybe I just got a stanky batch. Everything else I have, has been awesome.

Sitka and Kuiu-
The problem is they are so comfortable you will want to wear them for your everyday clothes.
I have now purchased the pants and jackets in their non camo version because they are so comfortable. This becomes an expensive hobby smile
