I am looking into buying a Seek Compact Thermal Imager for Android and wanted to know if I go out hunting for white tail deer in Texas if I use it just to look around and see what's out there if this would be illegal. I don't plan to use to aim or anything like that I just want to use it to see if I can see a deer coming and then put it away before ever touching my gun.

Its totally fine to observe wildlife in Texas with a thermal camera just be sure you are doing it ON PROPERTY and not on public roadways/highways.

If you buy the Seek make sure you come back and post a real review. I saw this the Seek XR last week and almost pulled the trigger, but I'm still doing some research.

I would assume the Seek is better than the FLIR One I have, but be sure you have a realistic expectation. You are not going to get the performance out of a $300 clip-on phone camera that you'll get with a $3k Thermal Monocular. You'll see a hot something at some distances, but to think you're going to "observe wildlife" out at any distance isn't going to happen.

I do wish you luck with it.
