For the money Plano cases are pretty solid; if you're independently wealthy, Pelican.

Hunt around, particularly on the Internet. You can find the Plano cases pretty cheap, MUCH cheaper than the Pelicans and much cheaper than the big-box stores.

I think Plano private labels that one for Academy. I found the Plano version on sale at Academy a little over a year ago for $80.00. Study enough for international travel even.

Cabelas brand pelican-style cases might save you a few bucks off pelican for a good case. I don't own one though.

Got a few for pistols, they seem fine except for the stupid twist latch

buy Pelican once and save your rifle for a lifetime.

That said, I got a Boyt single rifle case from the wife last Christmas and it is awesome.

I bought the Boyt first and it was very shoddy. I heard good things and it was on sale at Gander. But when I put my rifle in it, it was like it was in a bind, and wouldn't close properly. I ended up buying the Plano Game Winner one at Academy for 109.00 and after all the reviews I read about it, seems like its a really good case. Plus its a double gun, which may come in handy later.

Bought my first Pelican case today at Cabelas. Regularly $239 for $179.00. Got an extra $20.00 off for purchase over $100. Definitely worth the full price so I feel like I stole it. Great product, the three layers of foam allow you to cut out the profile of the rifle so it is is held securely. Whatever you choose, make sure it has the three separate layers of foam to cut out the profile of the gun.

An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

I have two Boyt cases i purchased from Cabelas. It's there brand but made by Boyt. They work great and I am very please with how well they protect my rifles. They have even stood up to international air travel. I would buy them again in a heartbeat.

I have pelican and the cabelas brand and I think the cabelas are just as good as the pelican for way less money.

I have a Boyt which I like a lot. I find it is very comparable to Pelican. And I got a better price than the comparable model Pelican.

+1 on the Pelican rifle cases. I've made a few trips via truck to Wyoming and I'm very comfortable carrying my Weatherby's/S&B/Ziess in Pelicans.

Pelican is the only Gun case I would ever look at buying! I have many of those cases. They are wonderful!! Everything else are only copy cat designs. The same example on buying a chinese rip off 4-wheeler vs yamaha or honda. Might only be good for the first trip out! I can't stand buying things twice!!

Boyt cases are made in the USA. I have no idea what your taking about.

Me too and I hate overpaying. So, I bought a Boyt which has proven to be every bit as durable as Pelican... and it cost less money.
